So, I recently learned a secret that I am not sure I want to tell you about. You see I’m being selfish.
Fine, fine. I relent! Against my better judgment I’ll tell you…
There’s a place where traffic doesn’t cease to move in rush hour, or inexplicably slow just because the 130 people in front of you decided to try and multitask by texting and driving. The roads are two lanes or less, but they are beautifully maintained and you drive on them instead of tactically park like in the big city. The people are just like people anywhere, except I think the jerk ratio seems substantially lower than other places I’ve lived in central Arizona.
The best part about it is the space. My, the wide open space! This place is a place where you can still see the mountains from your house. And no, you don’t have to live way up on a mansion in the hills to do it. The views still exist, and though they may be dotted with the occasional industrial site, you can still see fields- yes actual fields- just like the place you probably grew up.
I suppose it is impossible to interpret this as a rant against Phoenix, but please don’t misunderstand. I still love Phoenix. However, it seems to me that Goodyear has managed to encompass all the things about Phoenix I love and remove all the things that I do not.
This great and growing city has accomplished this, while still maintaining its own unique identity that sets it apart from other cities.
Now that you have read all the things I enjoy about Goodyear- please, please, please do not move here, I still want to hog all its charm for myself!
